Extraordinary girl
i'm extraordinary! nah, just kidding..lol! that's the song that got me through this morning when i was freaking out about my driving exam today. something vaguely comforting about the way Billie Joe sings "she's an extraordinary girl..in an ordinary world" haha.
yes, vic finally went for her driving test today after 3 months of "break" from driving lessons at college and one week plus of driving lessons just before the exam. man, the tension i went through days before today. >_<
but....i can sleep clearly now because i. have. passed!!!! >D big achievement, wei! you know how one of the biggest elements in a scary movie is suspense? well, today started with waking up at 5 in the morning, then snoozing til 5.30(because i realised i don't need that much time to get ready) and the driving school aunty picked me up at bout 6.20. was falling asleep inside her car while she drove around picking up 4 other students. and when we finally got there, we had to wait. yeah, wait for about 1 hour plus for them to get stuff organized and call our numbers to collect our information cards then more waiting while they call out your number for either the road test or the slope test.
i was pretty blessed. mine started with the road test and was called pretty early. the examiner was friendly (possibly a little too friendly.. -_- kept asking all these personal info questions..hmm) and passed me quite highly even though i wasn't that sure of myself..lol..nevermind, as long as i didn't endanger anybody's life, right? ;)
ok, half te tension gone. now for the slope test. a little more waiting, then, my number is called along with a few others and i have to sit at a tent to wait my turn. it shows what a procrastinator i am that i was the last of my group to go since we have a choice of whether to go or allow others to and well...eheheh. but! i passed that and parking and the 3 point turn too! muahahah...i may now road hog and speed! look out, world! or maybe just Malaysia for now.. :D
on the other hand, i viewed a few cases on how you can fail the road test. the first one was this guy who went before me. he came back with the examiner driving and his friends asked what happened so he said, "i forgot to stop at the second stop sign. no cars what, so i went la" hiyo..so wasted..but, lesson learnt, i remembered that. ;)
in the second case, in my opinion, it really wasn't the guy's fault. he stopped at the second stop sign (the one the other guy didn't..lol) but when he was trying to get onto the busy road, some idiotic driver sped past and caused him to stop the car on the line. the examiner then said "you can't stop on the line." i was thinking, then what? become superman in a minute and reverse the car? or maybe he should just let it be and crash into that guy to 'teach him a lesson.' and after that tell the instructor, "sorry, bang, cannot stop on the line." really, sometimes people just don't make sense. and that guy's friend, a girl whom i befriended there came and told me that that was the same examiner i got. >_< thank God, i wasn't in such a scenario..but when it comes to that, let's just thank God i passed. or not. ;D

rain rain go away
it rained all day today. this is proof that you really 'know not what cometh tomorrow'. (yeah, so i medievalised that sentence a little.. ;p) yesterday, we had plans to meet at 7-Eleven then walk to a baking shop, buy materials and the rest was blurry after that but that was the initial plan. oh, and i was supposed to be at Chelle's house around 12.30pm.
Initial glitch, i did not make it to Chelle's house at 12.30pm. it was delayed to 2.15pm. plus it was raining. so now we were at Chelle's house chatting with Mel online because it was raining.
Glitch number two, we only left the house at about 3? i dunno..when the rain began to slow, we left so i neglected to check the time.
the rain slowed then picked up again, gave us a glimmer of hope that it would finally stop and then pour down heavier than before. my energy was sapped just by carrying this large umbrella with a logo advertising 'Atlas Copco' on it. so! i got a nice little blue umbrella today. (finally! i was supposed to get one to replace my poor chequered one two months ago ^^") and i got a packet of those party masks you used to wear at your friend's birthday party when you were about 7? for an early Valentine's Masquerade dinner my church youths are holding tomorrow. no, it's not a childish looking mask! i specifically chose an appropriate pattern.. lol. and i still haven't chosen a top to go with my skirt.. haha...ever the last minute planner. anyway, feeling pretty tired now. still gotta dig through my closet. busy day again tomorrow. ja ne! ^_^

sashiburi ne..
scattered feathers indeed...i'm really bad at keeping up journals in the long term. everytime i get a "new" journal, i run off to it and drop the old one. poor blog.. :'( *blows dust off it*
anyhow, i've been thinking bout Petronas' advert for this year's CNY. for those of you who don't know it, i'll roughly cap it up.
a few old women are sitting around a table and talking. the topic of their conversation revolves around their sons' professions and (roughly) how much they earn. each one tries to outdo the other. but all throughout their conversation, one old woman just gives remarks like "really?" and "oh.." towards the end, the others ask her, "how's your son doing?" her reply, "he's doing fine. he's healthy and he's coming to pick me up today." the others are stunned. "Going to pick you up today?" they ask. at that moment, a car pulls up and she says, "yes, there, that's my son. so troublesome, wherever they go for holidays he'll want to take me along." she gets into the car and waves goodbye leaving the others still with surprised looks on their faces.
all conversation was carried out in Hokkien. one of the dialects i grew up with and that added to the nostalgia i felt. watching this advert, it just made me really sad as i have actually seen 'abandoned' old people at the old folks' home my grandmother used to stay at. a nurse told me that some of those old people didn't have anyone visiting them for a long time. and then, of course, i miss my grandmother (eventhough she doesn't speak Hokkien, it reminds me of her) who can't be with us this Chinese New Year. I want to wish her Gong Hei Fatt Choy anyway.
